Iridology

I utilize the practice of iridology that has been developed over hundreds of years to determine potential weaknesses in your body. I will show you your own iris so that you can understand what I’m seeing. I will assess your iris and use this assessment along with other tests and history to determine the nutritional protocol that I recommend.

About Iridology

The science and practice of iridology is performed by analyzing the iris (or colored portion of the eye) along with the sclera (or white of the eye).

The iris is the most complex external structure of the human anatomy. It is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the nervous system. Through the optic nerves, which are attached to the eyes, vision information is sent to the brain. At the same time information is sent back to the eyes from the brain about your overall level of health.

Iridology reveals the level of health and the presence of tissue inflammation in the body, where it is located and what stage it has reached – acute, sub-acute, chronic or degenerative. The iris reveals the level of constitutional strength, inherent weaknesses and the transitions that take place in a person’s organs and tissues according to the way they eat, drink, feel, think and live. Iridology shows genetic predisposition and therefore, I am able to recommend preventive protocols.

History of Iridology

The science and practice of Iridology is not new. The oldest records uncovered thus far have shown that a form of iris interpretation was used in ancient China as far back as 1,000 BC nearly 3,000 years ago. In the year 1670, the physician Philippus Meyens, in his book Physiognomia Medica, described the organ division of the iris according to body regions. The Viennese ophthalmologist, Beer, did not know of these old views on iris analysis. Yet, in his publication of 1813, Textbook of Eye Diseases he wrote, “Everything that affects the organism of an individual cannot remain without effect on the eye and vice versa.”

A Hungarian, Dr. Ignaz von Peczely, published a book in 1881 entitled, Discovery in Natural History and Medical Science, A Guide to the Study and Diagnosis from the Eye. This book achieved an international renown and he is considered the father of modern Iridology.

In the 20th Century, doctors and scientists primarily from the United States (Dr. Bernard Jensen) and Germany (Josef Deck and Josef Angerer) brought Iridology into worldwide recognition.

More About Iridology

The actual fiber structures and various colors we see in the iris tell us about the level of physical health and constitutional strength of our body. The effect of poor diet, toxic overload, mucus congestion, and too much stress and organ degeneration are all indicated by changes in the shape and coloration of the iris. These features also relate to personality traits as well as conscious and subconscious thought/emotional patterns.

Each eye gives us different information. The left eye correlates with the left side of our body which is the feminine, creative, conceptual and intuitive side of us. The right eye correlates to the right side of our body which is the analytical, practical, linear and masculine side of us.

Iridology provides a painless and economical means of looking into the body. It may be utilized in conjunction with any other system of analysis or diagnosis available. Today, people are in need of preventive health care and less complex methods of analyzing their condition. Iridology holds a key to both of these situations.

My analysis of the iris is done through the observance of iris changes through the use of a magnifying lens with the aid of a penlight. I provide a magnifying mirror for my patients to observe their own iris. I use iridology as a method of assessment for conditions and levels of health – NOT a diagnosis.

What Iridology Can Do

  • Reveal constitutional strength and vitality – the overall health of the individual
  • Record inherent strengths and weaknesses
  • Reveal the body’s potential for health or disease
  • Identify nutritional needs of the body
  • Reveal accumulations of toxins, acids, and catarrhal congestion
  • Record the quality of nerve force in the body; the health and condition of the nervous system
  • Reveal the body’s response to nutritional programs; how well the body is healing, and at what rate

What Iridology Cannot Do

  • Does not name specific diseases
  • Transitory conditions are not known in the iris. You are only seeing the predisposing factors that lead to the diseases, not the diseases themselves
  • It does not reveal pregnancy – because this condition is normal to the female
  • It does not reveal presence of gallstones, kidney stones, or any other kind of stones
  • Cannot specify accidents, but can reveal damaged, inflamed tissue
  • Does not reveal the location of parasites, bacteria or germ life, but can show the condition of tissue in the body and the development of the environment for these conditions to manifest.
